Sonnie has helped me through a back fusion recovery and shoulder reconstruction surgery. The latest was a neck problem – a bulged disk due to trauma combined with some arthritic problems. The orthopedic surgeon was recommending a cervical fusion. As a last effort to avoid another surgery, I started therapy. My legs have gone down in size significantly, which means I can buy pants that fit the rest of my body. I usually would have to buy pants that would fit my left leg. I am a short person so when I would hem my pant legs the length of my left leg was always different from the right one. Now they are pretty close in size. Sonnie is the greatest!

I never thought that having to get my right shoulder scoped to alleviate pain and increase my shoulder motion had more than one benefit. The second and greater benefit, after finishing my therapy for my shoulder, was the opportunity to meet and be treated by Sonnie.

To make a long story short, I had lymphedema in both of my legs. I had to travel out of town to get my lymphedema therapy done. My fittings for garments were done at a store and the therapist recommended the strength of the garments. The person who fitted me was a little worried about the recommended strength of the garment, but the therapist said it would be OK.

I received my garments and I shocked on how hard they were to put on. I was told that it would get easier. It took me about 10 minutes to get my garment on each leg, and I couldn’t wait to get them off at the end of the day. After about two months, my right shoulder started hurting me to the point of losing sleep at night. I don’t know if the stress I put on my shoulder from pulling on the garments caused it or it was because of the arthritis in my shoulder. I needed to do something so I had arthroscopic surgery done. After the surgery I was told that I couldn’t pull my garments on because of the strain it would put on the shoulder. Needless to say after six weeks of therapy for my shoulder, my legs were swollen up again and I needed lymphedema therapy again.

I found out that Sonnie did lymphedema therapy in Peru which saved me a two-hour drive that I had for my last therapy. I was treated with professional care and when my legs were at a point to start wearing garments again she asked me to bring in my old garments.

When she helped me get them on she was amazed at the strength of the garments and how hard they were to put on. She recommended that I get new garments made at a lesser strength. When she measured me for new ones, I told her about a problem I had with old left garment it would get a ring around my ankle which would cause me great pain. She said the way she measures for an ankle allows for little more room.

When I received my new garments I was amazed on how easy they were to put on and to take off. It now only takes me a few minutes to put them on and I am totally comfortable with wearing them all day. I highly recommend Sonnie for lymphedema therapy and the benefit of having a therapist do the measuring for a garment and ordering them. This way you are assured of a good fit.

"I started receiving treatments for a lymphedema condition on 04-23-07. I was very satisfied with the treatments. It greatly reduced the swelling in both of my legs. "I had quite a bit of swelling in my lower right leg and some in my lower left leg for a few years. My legs felt really heavy and I would tire easily.

After seeing Sonnie for a free screening, she diagnosed my condition as Lymphedema and my doctor agreed. After a few weeks of treatment – manual lymphatic drainage and compression wrapping – I lost about 13 inches of fluid on my right lower leg alone!
